Among the latest CMOS camera releases is the mvBlueFOX-IGC from Matrix Vision, supplied by Alrad Instruments. This camera is based around the company’s successful single board mvBlueFOX-MLC.


IGC stands for Industrial Grade Compact. Two models are offered, with two different back planes. The first model features one Mini-USB interface, the second a further circular connector for the digital inputs and outputs. For both connectors, Matrix Vision provides a multitude of different cables with different lengths including bendable and lockable versions, and versions suitable for drag chains. The hardware features are the same as in the MLC: there are CMOS sensors from Wide VGA up to 5 Megapixels with global shutter or rolling shutter and both high-quality C- and CS-mount lens holders are available. For industrial integration, there exists 1/1 opto-isolated digital inputs. The cameras offer an automatic gain control (AGC), an automatic exposure control (AEC), and in some cases high dynamic range (HDR) or high sensitivity mode for low-light environments. Basler has released the acA2000-


340km/kc and


acA2040-180km/kc cameras to its Ace line, which use the latest CMOS sensors by Cmosis. They offer 340fps at 2 Megapixel and


180fps at 4 Megapixel resolution via a Camera Link interface with Power over Camera Link (PoCL) functionality.


The sensors run in progressive scan mode and use a global shutter for precise imaging results and a less complex system layout. These Basler Ace cameras offer an outstanding price/performance ratio. Basler claims that the models are the smallest cameras based on the Cmosis sensors (compact 29 x 29 x 43.5mm housing and less than 90 grams overall weight). They feature very high speeds, high image quality and a starting list price of €1,090. Basler says the data measured


according to the EMVA 1288 standard shows that image quality, even in such a compact housing, is comparable to many parameters for standard CCDs and outperforms older generations of CMOS sensors. www.baslerweb.com


Baumer Optronic has released the HXG series, using the


latest CMOS sensors with Dual GigE interface technology. The HXG cameras are available with resolutions of 2 and 4 Megapixels and transfer reliably more than 100fps data rates. The cameras’ Dual GigE technology lets them achieve a bandwidth of 240MB/s while exploiting all the advantages of Gigabit Ethernet. The standard interface permits simple, flexible integration into existing systems and supports cable lengths of up to 100 metres while simultaneously reducing integration costs. Hamamatsu has introduced the C11440-50B board level camera


for OEM scientific and industrial customers. It has a Scientific CMOS sensor and is designed to deliver high performance and cost-effective imaging in a small, board-level format.


The camera is ideal for a wide variety of scientific and industrial applications including semiconductor inspection, failure analysis, x-ray scintillator readout, fluorescence microscopy, and high-speed/high- resolution imaging.


The C11440-50B delivers 45fps at


full resolution of 1,920 x 1,440 pixels (3.63 x 3.63µm) and a wide dynamic range of 4,500:1. These features allow the capture of high-quality images at fast speeds, even in low light conditions.


The IEEE1394-b interface


(FireWire b) offers a low-cost communication and power interface, while the camera’s various external trigger options allow seamless integration with the OEM customer’s equipment. www.hamamatsu.eu


The Imaging Source, a multinational manufacturer of industrial


cameras, has introduced two small USB CMOS cameras with autofocus.


The industrial cameras are housed in a compact and robust aluminium casing. The colour and monochrome models are available with WVGA and 5 Megapixel resolutions and are thus ideally suited to applications with a variable working distance, which require an autofocus lens. A number


Industrial Sensor Vision International (ISVI), a specialist in camera technology for automation, high-speed inspection, and PCB and wafer inspection, has introduced three high-resolution, fast cameras. Each is available in colour and monochrome versions and each provides global shutter, 8 bits per pixel video output and 3.3V/lux.s sensitivity, along with a Camera Link interface.


The 25 Megapixel (5,056 x 5,056 pixels) version provides 27fps from a 1.26-inch CMOS sensor; the 20 Megapixel version (4,480 x 4,480 pixel resolution) gives 34fps from a 1.12-inch, CMOS sensor; and the 15 Megapixel (3,904 x 3,904 pixel resolution) camera features a 0.98- inch CMOS sensor and a frame rate of 45fps. www.isvi-corp.com
