used on the model. An alternative would be to replace the needed parts from the manu- facturer if the damage allows. I recently was the recipient of that beautiful E-flite F-86 15DF from Horizon Hobby (www.horizon
hobby.com), which was on the cover of MarchFM. You will have to ask my boss for the exact details as I was not present, but something “happened” to the poor Sabre be- fore I received it. Rather than a rebuild, Horizon Hobby’s
speedy service had all the necessary re- placement parts at my door in days and an afternoon’s work had the Sabre ready to re- turn to action. The Sabre was able to put in some flights at E-Jets 2011 enjoying that beautiful long runway. The 4th Annual E-Jets International was
held September 8th–11th in Columbus, Ohio at the world class TORKS field of dreams CD’ed by Terry Nitsch. This is the meet to attend to get the pulse of current EDF technology. All types of EDFs are wel- come with time slots grouped for similar performance aircraft together for safety. The TORKS members controlling the flight line made every effort to maximize the pi- lot’s flight time. This year’s scale event was broken into
classes to allow a more evenly matched com- petition. Castle Creations (

creations.com) did a great job of supporting its controllers with a recent concern. They sent replacements for anyone wanting to exchange their Castle controller at the meet. You may remember Bob Pannell’s gigan-
tic UPS DC-10 EDF, which he has been fly- ing the past few years. Bob was flying a scratchbuilt DC-8 powered by four brushed

400 sized EDF motors. The DC-8 is foam- covered balsa built in the ’90s and original- ly powered with Ni-Cds. Two weeks before the meet the Ni-Cds were changed over to Li-Pos. Wing span is 77 inches and weight is 11 pounds. Hard to tell from the real thing in the air. E-flite’s (
www.horizonhobby.com) newest EDF scale offering, the F-4 Phantom made its debut. The Phantom features the 32 DF fan system on a 6S pack. This is the same power system as the Habu 32. Flaps are included and optional, bolt-on electric retracts should be available before year’s end.

thunderpowerrc.com) combo took first through third with Dustin Buescher’s Elec- tra EVF 15S coming out on top with an av-
erage speed run of 210.5 mph. There was a sad note to E-Jets 2011 as the word spread that this great flying site will not be avail- able next year due to new road construction. Plans were to conduct the meet at a small full-scale airport next year. The 12th Annual NEAT Fair, held Sep- tember 16–18 at Peaceful Valley camp- grounds near Downsville, NY, was CD’ed by Tom Hunt. NEAT is an electric experience with flying events ongoing day and night and plenty of vendors. First a big thanks to the SEFLI members and all the volunteers that make NEAT so great! The actual event days were treated to fair-
ly good weather. The flight line remained ac- tive before and after normal flying hours with so many interesting models every- where you looked.
