travelling with friends who hadn’t cruised before and, after this, I’m not sure they will bother again. Elaine Lloyd, via email

SCOOTER SCORN

Dear WoC Your recent Disabled Cruising article was very useful – it lets us know which ships to avoid. A recent trip on Queen Victoria was like being on a hospital ship returning from some military campaign. The worst hazard was the number of elderly men (and some women) whizzing around on deck and in the cafeteria on mobility scooters, making other people jump out of their way. Many of these drivers have no idea what a collision could mean – they have no insurance and it takes month to recover from broken limbs. Do the ships’ owners not realise the situation? REGENT RAVE MALAGA MALADY

Dear WoC Shortly we are taking a ‘quick’ cruise round-trip from Malaga. Living near Malaga, this is a treat for us expats in Spain, cutting out the airport grind to the UK for all our cruises. I think more ships could use Malaga as a home port rather than Barcelona. A huge proportion of expats cruise from here and flights to Malaga are much cheaper than Barcelona. I know Seabourn use Malaga for their repositioning twice a year and Royal Caribbean are doing well here. Millions have been spent on the port and more expansion is continuing. Oh, and thanks for a superb magazine! Hilda Scott, Mijas, Spain

Dear WoC We just wanted to tell you how thrilled we were with our recent trip from Southampton on Regent’s Seven Seas Voyager. A new venture for us, we will certainly be looking to repeat this wonderful experience. Voyager is a beautifully proportioned ship, with so many amenities. Helpful, friendly staff, fantastically good food and delightful accommodation (we had a Voyager Suite with butler service, etc). Two loos, a walk-in shower as well as a large bath – all so necessary for us in the not-so-active time of our lives! In our opinion, although Regent came up slightly more expensive, we found it even better than Seabourn and Silversea; everything is included and it is really good value. All in all, this, for us, was pure perfection and by far the best cruise we have ever taken – and we look forward to cruising with them again. Alan Hall and Judi Richards, Isle of Wight, UK
