BEAUTY FILE Glam Slam!
Jo Foley charts the latest treatments and products for the body (and face) beautiful.
POWDER POWER
New from JANE IREDALE, masters of mineral make-up and skin care, is Powder-Me SPF, an all over face-and-body sunscreen in powder form. As it’s a powder, it doesn’t run where
you don’t want it, like into your eyes or hair, it’s highly water resistant, has been scrupulously tested and has received the Seal of Recommendation from the Skin Cancer Foundation. All you need do is just layer it on lightly with its own brush and head for the sun (great for packing, too, in these liquid-restraining days). It’s quick to apply, effective and costs £34. It also comes in two shades – Translucent and Tanned. For stockists, call 020 8450 7111.
DIVA DIVINE
Designer, film-maker, style icon and possibly the most glamorous man on the planet, TOM FORD even puts himself into his own ads. And he has now produced his first cosmetic collection. It’s a beautifully designed (naturally), carefully edited collection for eyes, skin, lips and cheeks.
It all begins with a primer, then on to the lightest foun- dation, a highlight pen, before going on to blusher, dramatic eyes and dramatic
lip colour, finished with its own lacquer. There is a whole skincare range too. From all major retail outlets (including those at Heathrow Terminals 3 and 5) from £21.60.
FAKING IT PERFECTLY
If you hate the smell of fake tanning products (and if you are averse to the orange glow that accompanies some of them), you will
love SUN-BELIEVABLE. A tanning product that is almost odourless, dries instantly and develops a really good colour in two to four hours (as well as lasting up to 10 days), it’s almost too good to be true. But it’s here. Developed by beauty guru Leighton
Denny, better known for his nail polishes but a man with an addiction to tanning, it’s the best I’ve tried. Don’t worry about the colour when you first apply; it’s a very
unattractive shade of green but that fades to brown almost instantly.
Sun-Believable TAN ME Self Tan Mousse and mitt costs £30 from QVC.
SMALL AND STRONG
It’s magic in a tiny bottle, DR BRONNER’S Castile Liquid Soap – it will wash your face, body, hair and clothes. You can even brush your teeth with it and treat cuts and grazes! It will slip into your hand luggage without a problem – it’s just 59ml – and it comes in eight different scents, including rose, peppermint, eucalyptus and tea tree. Best of all, it is wholly organic with no synthetic preservatives,
thickening agents or dyes and costs just £2.99 from leading health shops and select branches of Waitrose and Liberty.
SPRING ALL YEAR ROUND
JO MALONE’S new fragrance will, no matter what the season, remind you of spring – Wild Bluebell is very English and yet very seductive. Its top notes of bluebell and clove are mixed with lily of the valley and eglantine, with a touch of white amber and musk at its base. Like a bluebell wood, it is unforgettable. And, because the
native English bluebell is endangered, Jo Malone London has made a donation to the Woodland Trust to help save the flower.
