FASHION
Suited and booted, caped and draped; this Autumn it’s all about great shaping. Whether you wear layers or choose a fitted jacket, the choices include stand-out colours as well as the time-honoured browns and greys. Petsa Kaffens looks at the ways to update essentially English style.
Autumn is all about covering up by layering to keep out the cold winds. This year, the classics have been given an update with retro styling with 1970s capes and trousers, 40s jackets and lots of houndstooth checks.
Look out for flattering straight-legged
trousers that give a great tailored finish to a look and work well with fitted jackets or worn with a cape. Also, this season has bright
alternatives that will add pizzazz to a look, so, when wearing strong shades, team them with neutral tones rather than going for an all-over colour. Set off a style and add drama with accessories like coloured or patterned hats, gloves and bags.
