TAG-TEAM INTERVIEW Media Molecule’s James Spafford questions Sony’s James Gallagher

What is a typical day at work like for you? The PlayStation Blogis one of the busiest company blogs on the web so most of my days are spent going through content requests, both internal and from third-parties; and then proofreading copy, uploading assets – every part of the process that takes a post from the original idea to going live. I also make sure I put aside time for responding to comments, writing original features and managing our Twitter account. As anyone working at a large company will sympathise with, all of that is punctuated with lots of meetings.

James Spafford, Community Manager, Media Molecule

What is the most popular type of content you post for the PlayStation Blog? News is the biggest driver of traffic, as are PlayStation Store updates but you also get the odd surprise hit. A really ramshackle video of me unboxing the GranTurismo 5 Signature Edition wearing

What are your top tips for other industry blog teams? Be wary of anything subjective because the reader presumes you’re biased, and rightly so. A couple of Premier League team sites had rumour round-

up stories on transfer deadline day and I couldn’t understand why. Company blogs should deal in facts, but you don’t have to present them dryly.

James Gallagher, PlayStation Blog Manager, SCEE

I’d imagine the Grim Reaper has seen a fair amount of that in his career. So I’ll say one of the Micro Machines parodies in LBP2– because it’s you, Spaff.

And who will be your Tag- Team victim next week? Sega’s Mike Kebby.
