Today, the re-cyclability rate of a motor yacht is very low. The materials cannot be separated easily and most of their recycling value is poor. These boat dismantling centres will
become very efficient once the first
recyclable boats that have been created will come to their end-of-life.
This paper proposes a proactive, design driven response to this problem with a short to very long-term result.

SUSTAINABLE DESIGN METHODOLOGIES
2.1 DESIGN FOR DURABILITY
We like to think the yachts we design will last forever. Durability is a sign of quality and beauty. Durability is a valid economical and probably the best environmental strategy. It may be economically interesting to design boats that will allow an easy refit and bind customers to their boat builders for a long term partnership.
2.2 LIFE CYCLE ANALYSIS LCA
LCA is a methodology for assessing the environmental performance of a product over its full life cycle. The use of Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) helps
determine the embodied environmental effects
