I will be returning tomorrow with my wife to meet more franchisors.”

Held for the first time, the Children’s Activity Centre, hosted by The Creation Station, welcomed many little ones and their families for fun hands-on sessions. Sarah Cresswell, founder of The Creation Station, commented: “We welcomed a huge amount of families at the Activity Centre, with many using it as a base for exploring the rest of the show and turning their visit into a real family day out.” Exhibitors too were delighted with the results. Mark Currie, general manager of Fastsigns said: “Fantastic – we have been rushed off our feet! We have been very busy and now have more than 200 leads. We have had three sales and will probably sell most territories. Many visitors have done prior research and some even have prior experience in the courier industry.

First time exhibitor Kare Plus commented: “This is our first time at the show in Manchester and it’s been great! The quality of the show has been above par. People actually know what they are looking for and are asking the right questions. We have approximately 160 leads to follow-up with.”

if you’re starting to think about your 2012 recruitment strategy, see how this spring and summer’s events fared for the hundreds of franchisors who exhibited at the London and Manchester bfa-approved franchise exhibitions

his year’s British & International Franchise Exhibition in Olympia, London this spring was a resounding success. As the UK’s leading international franchise event it showcased more

than 120 exhibitors, had a broad range of informative and educational seminars, and conference sessions.

People who are serious about buying a franchise want to speak to franchisors directly. The value of going to an exhibition over purely researching online was apparent to those

who attended. Syed Naqvi, a telecoms sales consultant from East Ham captured the views of many by saying: “Visiting a show like this and meeting the people who run a company is a good way to find out about a business and whether it is right for you.”

Similarly, for The British Franchise Exhibition, which took place in Manchester, visitor Paul Siner, a police officer from Liverpool who is soon to be retiring from the force explains: “I had initially identified a particular franchise business to focus on, but having looked around the show, I have now broadened my horizons.

Adrian Goodsell, franchise exhibitions manager, said: “We’re working hard to attract a broader range of people to the shows to fulfil the market needs. We know more franchisors are looking for higher-level investors, so we introduced VIPs. We also know that more young parents are considering franchising, so we brought in the Creation Station to enable parents to visit the show and have some entertainment for the kids. No other format can beat meeting your prospects face to face to see whether they are right for your business.”n
