SWIM WARM-UP

Athletes were given the opportunity to swim in Lake Champlain the day before the event. Two sessions were held — one in the morning and one in the afternoon — to allow competitors the opportunity to get a feel for the water.

Endurance Films’ Danny Kolker

films 2004 Olympian Susan Williams as she talks with USA Triathlon Communications and Media Relations Manager John Martin about how she’s stayed active in triathlon since winning a bronze medal at the Athens Games. Williams also provided open water swim tips for age-groupers. She competes as an age group athlete and also serves as a triathlon coach. Williams won the overall women’s title this year.

PACKET PICK-UP

Athletes line up to collect their pre-race essentials, including their bibs, event T-shirts and swim caps. Volunteers manned packet pick-up on Thursday and Friday and helped to make the event possible.

BUILDING A RACE COURSE

Venue set-up began on Tuesday and continued until Friday afternoon. To complete the race-day atmosphere, elements such as this Gatorade inflatable were placed around the finish area.

National Events Director Jeff Dyrek meets with Larry Ramona of Socket Events to discuss finishing touches Friday afternoon before the event. Socket Events assisted the National Events department with the set-up and breakdown of the Age Group National Championship venue.

For the past few years, video boards have been part of the finish line area at Age Group Nationals.

This year, Go Vision supplied the boards as well as technical support to ensure all video content, including a live stream of the finish line, was up and running before the event began the next morning.
