SOUTHWEST

As your multisport race season winds down, take a moment to catch your breath and recharge, but not for long, because now is the time to start planning your 2012 race season. If you want to get faster, think about duathlon. Run-bike-run events train you to run fast, ride fast and transition like lightning. In 2012, the Southwest Region again will host the USA Triathlon Duathlon National Championship in Tucson, Ariz. Whether you are gunning to earn a qualifying spot on Team USA or chasing your personal best effort, it is important to get your run-bike- run legs ready with duathlon-specific training and racing. In 2012 you will have plenty of opportunities to build your fitness, hone your race strategy and fine-tune snappy transitions. Peruse the preliminary calendar of USA Triathlon sanctioned duathlons below to help create your own master plan.
