Fire, safety and security at the top of the FM agenda at Total Workplace Management 2011

End users directly accountable for fire, safety and security in their premises and places of work, such as facilities managers, estates managers and building control officers, amongst others, have a responsibility to ensure that comprehensive legislation is adhered to and an effective strategy and risk management plan is in place. As compliance and regulations evolve across the board, it is imperative that the underlying principles and requirements of said guidance is implemented and ultimately fulfilled.

In response to the ever expanding role of the FM, Total Workplace Management, the FM and Estates event, has established a new Fire, Safety and Security Seminar Theatre presenting the latest in fire, safety and security education. Adding to this, a dedicated Fire, Safety and Security Zone will highlight exhibitors offering products and services across this remit. With presentations from Barbour, a leading supplier of specialist information services to health, safety and environment professionals, the British Security Industry Association (BSIA) and the Health and Safety Sign Association, issues such as: How effective health and safety management can keep you out of court; extending the value of your security measures - how security systems can prove their worth beyond their security functions, and the implications of safety standard BS 1S0 7010 will be discussed. Additionally, the Fire Industry Association (FIA) panel made up from a range of industry experts including the London Fire Brigade and info4fire.com, will discuss the Fire Safety Order – Building on Five Years of Experience, where next?

Total Workplace Management is often referred to as the premier meeting place in the South East for the FM profession to network, increase knowledge base and establish new business relationships. Addressing the key characteristics, trends and challenges that face the FM professional and the sectors in which they operate, Total Workplace Management saw 6,860 industry professionals walk through its doors in 2010, and this year, visitors will see an even greater programme of proceedings throughout the two-day event.

Produced in association with the British Institute of Facilities Management (BIFM), Total Workplace Management is set to

A centralised approach to Facilities Management:

With building services and energy efficiency key elements of the FM’s remit, Total Workplace Management is co-located with M&E – The Building Services Event and Energy Solutions, the UK’s leading energy management and procurement event. These three events present an all inclusive experience for any FM professional in the South East. M&E – The Building Services Event is the UK’s only dedicated event for all building services.

Run in association with CIBSE and supported by HVCA, NICEIC and ECA, M&E will cater for those who are interested in a range of building services industry areas including air conditioning, electrical installation, plumbing, heating and ventilation. In addition to building services engineering there is also a clear focus on the issues surrounding safe working practices and the application of environmental protection.

As the UK’s largest exhibition dedicated to energy procurement, energy management and onsite renewables, Energy Solutions, supported by The Carbon Trust, is set to present the premier, authoritative, educational programme for the energy sector, incorporating the likes of leading industry bodies, The Carbon Trust, the Department of Energy and Climate Change (DECC), the Environment Agency, Carbon Clear and the Major Energy Users Council (MEUC).

Green technology:

The Green FM Trail will allow visitors to discover exhibitors displaying products, services and innovation that help to produce green and sustainable businesses. Visitors to Total Workplace Management are invited to ask the experts and find out more about

these green solutions.
