Leading lights from the world of golf retail, coaching and marketing will be passing on their expertise to PGA pros from across Europe when the Golf Show 2011 opens its doors at the Harrogate International Centre from October 25-27. Here we highlight the seminars
Headline speaker: Philip Hesketh Philip Hesketh has gone from being a door-to-door salesman to starting and running a company worth £48 million. Having spent his entire working life studying and practising persuasion and influence, he is now a full-time speaker, passing on his expertise to business leaders all over the world. He offers wit and wisdom on human behaviour and how to influence it, enthralling audiences from the first minute to the last and leaving them inspired and better informed on how buying, selling, persuading and influencing work.
Tuesday, October 25 10am-11.15am Jamie Edwards: The Brand You Edwards is a consultant and performance coach to executives in a number of industries including golf and direct sales. As a mental coach across a number of sports he has helped elite athletes deal with the downturns that life can throw at them.
10.45am-noon Graeme McDowall: Skills acquisitions and the development of expertise in golf McDowall is a lecturer in performance golf at Elmwood College and is currently in his third year as a PhD student at the University of Birmingham. His research has heavily influenced his development of the high performance golf programme (HPGP).
11.45am-1.30pm Paul Dyer: Short game revolution – strategy and technique After a successful amateur and college golf career Dyer is now academy director for Germany and has coached players such as Per-Ulrik Johansson.
1.15pm-2.30pm Dr Paul Hurrion: Is it technique or the putter that spins and bounces the ball? Dr Hurrion gained international recognition through his specialisation in biomechanical, sporting and equipment analysis and has worked closely with a number of the world’s top golfers.
3pm-4.15pm Fredrik Tuxen: Teaching with ball and flight monitors As chief technical officer and
co-founder of ISG/TrackMan, Tuxen’s research and work in the satellite industry has helped him develop a deep understanding of the factors that determine ball flight.
Wednesday, October 26 10am-11.15am Gary Smith: How to make the short game profitable and fun An Advanced Fellow PGA pro, Smith is regarded as one of the best short game coaches in the country. He has been technical coach to England’s top amateur squads since 1997 and coaches individuals from every level through to top Tour professionals.
10.45am-noon Niall Flanagan: From red to black and don’t go back Flanagan has gained extensive club expertise and he has also helped organise multiple tournaments including the Open and PGA Championships.
11.45am-1pm David Hicks: Dynamic putter fitting, coaching and use of new technologies A background in aerospace has given David Hicks a strong flair for design, development and the understanding of movement dynamics. He has put this knowledge into practice in custom fitting putters, developing fitting tools and related products.
12.30pm-1.45pm Ian James: Positioning the PGA professional James is one of the leading experts at Retail Tribe, a

company committed to the belief that golfers are better served by working with the PGA pro.
1.15pm-2.30pm Ian Clark: How to run a profitable, vibrant teaching business A Fellow of the PGA, Clark has presented seminars as part of the PGA’s continued education programme, jointly presenting the popular introduction to the golfing machine seminar with Reeves Weedon.
Thursday, October 27 10.45am-noon Scott Cranfield: Life’s hidden lessons for junior golfers A regular expert coach on Sky TV and in many national magazines and newspapers, Cranfield has more than 20 years of experience in passing on his expertise to fellow coaches. He has spoken at various PGAs around Europe as well as at the PGAs of Europe teaching and coaching conference.
12.30pm-1.45pm Mike Hebron: Modernising learning and teaching A highly respected PGA of America Master Professional who has won 12 peer-elected awards including National PGA Teacher of the Year, Mike Hebron was elected to the MET PGA Hall of Fame in 2008.
