Benchtop UV Conveyor Offers Fast Cures

SiC JFETs from SemiSouth target high-end audio

Intertronics’ Benchtop UV ConverterSpecialist adhesives company Intertronics have a wealth of UV cure adhesives and UV cure systems for manufacturers looking to upgrade their adhesive technologies or perhaps to move from a traditional mechanical fastening system to an adhesive solution – for reasons of cost and/ or quality. Their new DYMAX UVC-5 conveyor system is a bench-top unit offering the benefi ts of rapid throughput UV curing as part of a production line or as stand-alone equipment for curing UV adhesives as well as UV curable inks and coatings. The DYMAX UVC-5 offers very high intensities for fast UV curing (up to 10 metres per minute) with complete shielding from UV light and consistent cure times. This cost-effective and versatile conveyor system is ideal for production and lab environments. The UVC-5 features a 120mm wide

belt, with a lamp head which is height adjustable on the belt, from ~15mm to a maximum of ~60mm (custom conveyors are available for larger objects). Curing time can be adjusted by changing the belt speed from 1 to 10 metres per minute. The intensity of up to 400 mW/cm2 (UVA range) provides fast and complete cure for potting and conformal coating applications. The dependable, heavy-duty

conveyor design with fully shielded lamp enclosures presents a compact bench-top unit with both metal halide or mercury bulb types available. For further information and an illustrative video, please see www.intertronics.co.uk or visit their blog at www.adhere.uk.com

15% lower cost; high linearity, low distortion; available packaged or in die form. SemiSouth Laboratories, Inc., the leading manufacturer of silicon carbide (SiC) transistor technology for high- power, high-effi ciency, harsh-environment power management and conversion applications, has launched a new family of low cost SiC JFETS with very good linearity targeted at high-end audio applications.

SJEP120R100A and SJEP120R063A

offer a very good linearity and best– in-class distortion. Compatible with standard gate driver ICs, both versions feature a positive temperature coeffi cient for ease of paralleling; extremely fast switching with no ‘tail’ current at up to a maximum operating temperature of 150degC and a low RDS(on)max of 0.100Ω and 0.063Ω respectively. Devices are available in TO-247 packages; the 100mΩ part is also available in die form for integration into modules. Comments Nelson Pass, founder of leading audio amplifi er manufacturer

Nelson Pass Inc.: “Over the last forty years I have greatly appreciated the qualities of low power JFETs in audio circuits, and experimenting with the few examples of ‘unobtainable’ power JFETs has convinced me of their great potential. With the new SiC power JFETs from SemiSouth, this potential has been realized in reliable linear power amplifi ers. In push- pull topologies, they exhibit a 50% to 70% improvement in distortion, and in single-ended circuits

the improvement has been nearly ten- fold. Currently we profi tably produce a small high-end audio amplifi er using the SJEP120R100A devices and are engaged in developing other higher power amplifi ers using this and the SJDP120R085 depletion mode devices. Comments Dieter Liesabeths,

SemiSouth’s Director of Sales: “These parts are especially suitable for high end audio amplifi er designs which demand the best linearity performance and lowest distortion. Compared to conventional SiC JFET for power applications, the prices for these audio parts has been reduced by about 15% in order to meet the demand of customers.”

Merlin Flex-Ability Installs New Laser Process

Further investment by the Falcon PCB group in its Merlin Flex- Ability Hartlepool facility continues with the installation of a LPKF MicroLine Laser Drill 600. Technical Manager, Nick Wass, comments on what the installation means “The introduction of this equipment creates a step change in the company’s capabilities and speed of response we can now offer far more complex and technically demanding products as we can utilise laser drilling of blind vias and microvias and also very high accuracy profi le cutting of fl ex and rigid PCB material together with a range of Flex and Flex rigid high technology manufacturing solutions on shorter lead- times”. Brendan Carne, Managing Director of LPKF Laser & Electronics Ltd.,said “We

are pleased to support the Falcon PCB Group with the expansion of their in house technology. The installation of this high speed, high accuracy laser system will provide the group with a new level of accuracy in their production.”.
