new. He told me they have reconfi gured the Model 3, and since he knew that I liked the gun, I would probably be interested. For those who are not familiar with Stag Arms, they are not the new kid on the AR- 15 block. Truthfully, they are one of the older companies in the business, having produced AR-15 parts for over three decades, while building com- plete rifl es under the name and logo of other manufacturers. Interestingly, guns built under the Stag name are identical to these other manufactur- ers in both parts and care of manu- facture, but Stag guns can be less expensive by several hundred dollars — which is a good thing!
Upgrades What makes the current Model 3
different from earlier versions? The upgraded fore-end on the latest Mod- el 3 is still an optic-ready carbine, and is one of the company’s best selling products, retailing at just $895. The updated Model 3 does away with the original thermo-molded, mil-spec handguards and welcomes the Dia- mondhead V-RS (Versa Rail System) handguard system. The Diamond- head V-RS is the only modular, mil- spec, drop-in handguard platform that can be used with or without ac- cessory rails; actually confi guring to the needs of the user — something I really like. As the name implies, the V-RS is one of the most adaptable handguard systems currently offered for the M4/AR-15 platform. It allows for complete customization to the shooter’s specifi c applications and
requirements. In addition, the V-RS can be accessorized with short and full-length Picatinny rail tracks or fi tted with full-length, smooth “bum- pers” that provide an ergonomically contoured handguard. The V-RS is designed for fast confi guration chang- es and easy modifi cation to the plat- form, as the user’s accessory needs evolve or change. No more hand- guard with enough rails to open your own railroad. Also, it has a very nar- row circumference, which feels good in the support hand. The new Model 3 ships complete with the Versa Rail Base at no additional cost to the cus- tomer (a savings of over $100), and still remains priced at under $900. Other than the fore-end, the Model
3 is a standard gas impingement 16" carbine. While the current trend is
Dave prefers the Blue Force Vickers Combat sling, due to its simplicity.

The Diamondhead V-RS is quite thin when used as is. Don’t place unnecessary junk on your gun just because you can!
