Drywall Screwdrivers • 14.4v and 18v Lithium-ion models • Lightweight and compact body design • 4mm drywall screw maximum

Makita has introduced 14.4v and 18v versions of their latest design pistol-grip drywall screwdrivers. The weight saving and long runtime advantages of Lithium- ion battery technology are ideally suited to the high activity operating rates of drywall screwdrivers where as many as 75 screws may be required to fix one dry lining board. Recharge time for Makita Li-ion cells is just 22 minutes. Keeping the screwdriver light, comfortable and easily manoeuvrable is essential and the latest Makita designs feature the best ergonomics and balance for all-day operation. The tools weigh 1.3kg and 1.4kg respectively.

The new Makita BFS441 and BFS451 drywall screwdrivers have 1/4” HEX drive shank and will drive up to 4mm diameter drywall screws. The drivers have variable speed control triggers comfortably located for operation when the tool is held in the pistol grip position. The body mouldings are especially designed to make this a comfortable handhold position. Both models will run up to 4,000rpm without load. The driver

direction control is a finger- grip

rotating collar switch on the nose of the drivers. A useful and robust belt hook is provided on the base of the tool to make it easy to hold in a tool belt.

The new Makita drywall

screwdrivers are available in either body-only form for tradesmen with existing battery stocks, or complete with fast charger and two 3.0Ah Li-ion cells.

New Innovative EPIQ Collection Tool Storage System

From Snap-on Tools Snap-on Tools, brand leader in tools, tool storage and diagnostic equipment for the automotive market, has announced the introduction of a major innovation in tool box technology and design, its new EPIQ Collection. The EPIQ Collection tool storage system allows the customer to build and add to an initial tool box purchase so that their storage can grow to accommodate their tools. Additional add-ons include roll cabs, top chest with lid, risers, overheads and lockers, all in varying sizes to give the customer options. The Collection includes models of varying width – from 60” to 84” – as well as several options within each individual additional category. 16 different coloured paint options are also available and over 40 different configurations. For example, a customer selecting a 60” roll cab would get 13 drawers and 38,000 cubic inches of storage space - but with the addition of a matching top chest they would get an additional 10 drawers and 28,285 cubic inches of space. This would provide them with total of 23 drawers and 66,285 cubic inches of space.

The EPIQ Collection is now seen as Snap-on’s flagship range and has been built to the very highest specifications with some unique features. Standing seams give the cabs a clean, finished look as well as increasing the strength of the seam and providing excellent protection. A reinforced corner gusset design helps wracking so it will last longer and hold its value longer. Snap-on’s patented InPulse drawers are flushed finished for the ultimate professional look and offer extra capacity so they can hold more tools, as well as featuring a maximum-quality retention system that opens and closes easily no matter how many times tools are stacked inside. Each drawer closes and automatically latches securely. There are 16 different drawer sizes and EPIQ offers the ability to configure and adjust them in any way that the customer wants. The EPIQ roll cabs are 215% stronger than traditional tool boxes and are built up and reinforced to systematically absorb and transfer shock loads. The bottom girder is also twice as strong and the top thicker, with reinforcements in strategic places throughout the drawers and roll cab. EPIQ roll cabs come fitted with Snap- on’s patented ISO-Ride System which has 7” swivel-lock mag wheels and independent torsion spring suspension for the smoothest ride over rough surfaces.
