Diamond Products “Diamond’s are
a girl’s best friend” Mention diamonds and most people will immediately think of diamond rings, tiaras or necklaces. But diamonds are extremely versatile and used extensively in many other situations. Diamond has many good properties such as high heat-
conductivity, low fiction coefficient, high chemical stability, high resistivity and high optical performances. This makes it suitable for applications include coatings on bearings and CDs, acting as lens and thermistors, making high-voltage switches and sensors, etc. It is also used in the medical field - Venezuelan scientist Humberto Fernandez Moran invented the diamond scalpel for use in delicate surgeries.
Diamond Products are very important in the tool trade and are used extensively for construction, automotive tools, woodworking, engineering and DIY.
The diamonds used in tools can be synthetic or natural industrial diamond of different grain sizes and shapes. Diamond is especially suited to cut highly abrasive materials, such as ceramics, concrete, and natural stone.
Diamond blades are cutting tools which consist of a steel core with diamond tipped segments. They can range from segmented diamond blades, continuous rim, turbo, turbo segmented, electroplated amongst others used in different industries. In ToolBUSINESS+HIRE Magazine we strive to keep you up to date with the latest innovations in this important sector of the market.
Diamonds Are A Tradesman’s Best Friend Suitable for use on all kinds of construction work the new Rhodius DG210 ALLCUT diamond cutting disc by Hyde is an essential piece of kit for the builder’s toolbox. With a multi-purpose blade the DG210 ALLCUT certainly lives up to its name, as it is more than capable of cutting a wide variety of materials – from concrete to stone, steel, wood and even PVC. The multi-purpose nature of the DG210 means valuable time can be saved on site as there is less need for swapping between tools and with a superior cutting speed to conventional diamond cutting discs the DG210 ALLCUT is by far and away the more economical choice for any building site.
The DG210 ALLCUT also puts safety first, as the blade has three openings on the cutting edge to effectively reduce the amount of heat created during cutting and provides ventilation.
And that’s not all, as behind the tool’s numerous capabilities lies a real hidden gem. In contrast to conventional diamond cutting discs, the diamond grains are applied directly to the support blade using SDL (Single Diamond Layer) technology. This means that the diamond grains mostly project from the disc to remove the material aggressively and do not drop out until they are worn down, enabling each diamond to be used to its maximum potential.
The 115mm diameter version of the DG210 is suitable for use on angle grinders, while those with a diameter of 300mm and above can be used on petrol disc cutters.
