Using Twitter for Networking
More businesses are using Twitter for networking, both through traditional tweeting and via Tweet chats which bring together Twitter users on a particular topic by using a hashtag (#).
You’ll often see conference attendees tweeting tidbits from the speakers using a conference hashtag. For example, during Engage11 in May, thousands of tweets were sent and retweeted with #engage11.
Another way the hashtag is used is in scheduled Twitter parties or tweet chats. One example is a weekly tweet chat hosted by @weddingmarket Julie Albaugh each Wednesday at 1 p.m. using #weddingmarket. Using
TweetChat.com, Julie creates a chat room that users can log into with their Twitter accounts. Each tweet automatically includes the #weddingmarket hashtag on the end. Julie often interviews wedding industry VIPs during the chat and then opens it up for questions. Some
recent guests have included Preston Bailey, Disney Weddings, Donnie Brown and Shawn Rabideau.
During the chat, your tweets are broadcast to your followers so it’s important to keep this in mind. The benefit of this is an increased activity on Twitter and an opportunity to connect with others in the industry.

follow
TweetChat.com is easy to use. You Sign In using your Twitter Account and enter the hashtag to access the chat room. You can even set-up your own TweetChat—just pick a time, hashtag and invite your tweeps!
