with solid red cedar tops, which deliver a sweet, deep and exacting tone. Natural and Brown Shadow finishes are matched to deep-red ‘old-port’ mahogany back and sides, whereas black models retain their colour all over. All finishes are highlighted by a fine gloss lacquer. The starting point is either the T100D, T100DBK dreadnoughts or T100A Auditorium models, which sell for £309. The electro highlights of the range however, are the brown-shadow finished auditorium model T100ACEBRS (£435) and the black-finished, slim auditorium model T100ASCEBLK (£435). All electro models feature the Shadow engineered StudioLAG preamp system, which delivers a total of five preset EQ settings.
WWW.MI-PRO.CO.UK Tramontane T200 models retain a
much more ‘rustic’ and natural feel with a completely French satin finish. Again using red cedar, the back and sides are honey mahogany. The T200D dreadnought is £345,
whereas those that want a smaller body are catered for by the T200A auditorium model, again at £345. The 200 series is the first to feature a jumbo model in both full acoustic and electro cutaway guise. The T200J retails for £365 with the StudioLAG Plus equipped electro cutaway T200JCE retailing for £500. Also worthy of note are the 12 string
dreadnoughts T200D12 (£389) and electro T200D12CE (£389), plus also the slimmer neck profile ‘country’ nylon string model TN200A14CE (£490). Acoustic-only versions of the cedar
and rosewood T300 series come in just below the magic £500 figure with the T300D dreadnought retailing at just £455. Left-handers will be pleased to know that there is a good selection of lefties across the Lag Tramontane range in both steel string and nylon string variants. Brunswick Guitars have been a staple Barnes & Mullins house brand since 1995. The starting point is the spruce- topped BD200 Dreadnought. Retailing at
£115, the BD200 is available in Natural (left-handed too), Black and Sunburst; Natural Cutaway Electro (£185) plus a natural and sunburst 12-string variant. Similarly priced are the folk-sized BF200 models. Again available in Natural (left-handed too), Sunburst and Black. Last of the Brunswick straight acoustics – save for the workhorse-like Solid Topped BDS400 dreadnought (£195) – is the BP200 Parlour Model (£135). This small and curvy number lends itself well to its status as an ideal travel partner. Further up the range are the BTK50
Auditorium Cutaway Electro models. This Brunswick design has been the most popular for many years, due to its slightly thinner profile, lighter construction and great value. The BTK50 is available in Natural, White, Black, Blue and Red and retails in its six string guise for £205, and in its natural finished 12- string guise for £245. The Ozark 3342 solid spruce top
dreadnought is the beginner’s model in the Ozark line-up, retailing at around £225. For a classic Jumbo, the Ozark 3392 is £281 with a solid spruce top finished in a gloss black honey sunburst. A recent addition is the unique Ozark 3146 Celtic model guitar (£470) with a
solid cedar top, distinctive Celtic knot sound hole and matching wooden fingerboard inlays. Its large-bodied design produces extra volume and a rich tone, supplemented by an Artec EQ and transducer with built-in tuner. Ozark has also introduced a new high-
strung guitar to its small-bodied range. Sharing the body size of Ozark’s successful and sought-after tenor guitar, it has been designed with Nashville tuning in mind. It features a solid cedar top in a natural stain finish with rosewood faced back and sides and retails around £292. The Deluxe series is a collection of high quality guitars with all solid construction from selected AAA grade timbers and fitted with D’Addario EXP strings. They are also supplied in a hard case.
One of the firm’s best sellers is the Ozark Deluxe vintage style ‘L’ model (£409) with solid spruce top in vintage sunburst finish and solid mahogany back and sides. It is fitted with an Artec transducer and endpin jack pre-amp. Washburn has an all-new acoustic
range consisting of 30 new models for 2011. The range, featuring a variety of new body shapes and wood combinations is available now.
