Changing socio-political contexts over the last six decades have given rise to new and increasingly complex challenges facing refugees and asylum seekers in the UK, and throughout Europe. This talk will describe the work emerging from Visual Journeys, a project which explores how immigrant children construct meaning from the images in Shaun Tan’s award-winning wordless graphic novel The Arrival and involves collaboration between researchers at the University of Glasgow and Glasgow primary schools. The talk will refer to the range of creative strategies which allowed the pupils to reflect on the migrant experience. Info: evelyn.
