Pollokshaws Community Carnival Saturday 18 June Parade at 11.30am, main event 12noon - 4pm, Greenbank Park, Netherauldhouse Road, Pollokshaws, Glasgow G43 Free event


A fun-filled carnival to celebrate the diversity of the Pollokshaws Community. The parade will kick off an afternoon of music and dance, fun activities for all the family, including a mini football tournament, horse and cart rides, exotic animals, science and craft workshops, complementary therapies, cookery demonstrations, bouncy castles and much more. There will also be

Govan and Craigton Integration Network launch Community Flat, Block 40, Flat 2, Tarfside Oval, Glasgow G52 3AF. Free event


To launch our new community flat at Tarfside Oval there will be films, art exhibitions, therapies, crafts, information about volunteering, henna hand painting, food, a trip to our drop-in at Lourdes Church Hall and more. The thread running through the events will be Simple Acts, inspiring individuals to use small, everyday actions to challenge perceptions of refugees. Details of activities will be available in May. Fancy some mutual translation? Want to write your story? Want help telling it in English? Want to read something interesting? This event includes a display of written work from the Swapping Stories asylum seeker and refugee group and the chance to add some words of your own in any language you choose from West-of-Glasgow-speak, to Tamil. Writers from the Federation of Writers Scotland and Scottish PEN will be on hand to help. Group members will be invited to read. There will be information stalls and refreshments. Info: Annemarie.
