8 CLUB vs CLUB

Do you want to know where the hottest clubs are right now? Well, every month TGN are putting your favourite clubs together in a head to head battle to see which ones come out on top. This month it’s the super clubs, Proud 2 Vs Pulse.

@guestlistdotnet PROUD 2

32—37 Cowper Street, EC2A 4AP 020 7336 8898 www.proud2.com

DRINKS/PRICE 0 Only serving spirits, wine and champagne- Proud 2 doesn’t exactly cater for those who enjoy a beer and a cider. Also, drink prices are expensive but their range of cocktails are only £7 each. Cocktails it is!

EVENTS 1 Proud 2 has different guest DJs and big-name live acts every Friday and Saturday night. Past acts have included Mystery Jets, Chicane, Japanese Popstars, White Lies, The Horrors and Jazzy Jeff.

SAFETY 1 To prevent large crowds gather- ing and getting restless, Proud 2 has organised a shuttle bus service. From 8.45pm the ser- vice runs every five minutes from North Greenich tube station to Proud 2. At only £2 per ticket… problem solved!

Score: 4/5

VIBE 1 In order to cater for it’s Essex and Kent audience, Proud 2’s has created a completely extravagant and over-the-top experience. With large guilded lions, massive chandaliers, burlesque dancers and scantily- clad barmaids, it’s no surprise the designer, Danielle Proud orginally used Las Vegas as her inspiration.

VERSATILITY 1 Considering Proud 2 has such a massive club status, it’s surpris- ingly versatile. With a huge main stage, it manages to provide for DJ and live acts lovers alike.

SIZE MATTERS 0 Proud 2 is smaller than Pulse. To make up for it’s size, it is filled with bars, balconies, dance floors, a main stage and of course, bags of personality!

PULSE

36 Stoke Newington Road, Dalston, N16 7XJ 020 7354 9993 www.pulseclub.co.uk

DRINKS/PRICE 1 Pulse London’s drink prices are considerably cheaper than Proud 2… nuf said!

EVENTS 1 Aiming to be compared to the Super Clubs of Ibiza, Pulse is stacked with five dance arenas, five bars, a Void sound system and an outdoor Eden Garden Club. Therefore it’s no surprise Pulse London kicked-off it’s launch night with Erick Morillo’s Voodoo Nights.

SAFETY 0 Pulse is a short walking distance from Southwark tube station, and has it’s own private taxi rank. There’s no doubt the taxi rank is a bonus, but that means crowds of drunken people waiting around, and that’s when things tend to get messy! Proud 2’s shuttle bus system wins this one.

Score: 3/5

VIBE 1 Compared to Proud 2, Pulse’s vibe can probably be described as less extravagant and more he- donistic. There’s no denying that Proud 2’s personality stands out, but Pulse is a sheer experience.

VERSATILITY 0 There’s no denying that Pulse London will fulfil the needs of hard-core clubbers, it’s main genre being underground House and Techno. Apart from this, it’s genres don’t stretch too a far afield.

SIZE MATTERS 1 With a capacity of 4,500, it’s one of the largest clubs to open in London for a long time, and has definitely earned it’s title as a Super Club. With all areas open the club stretches to a massive 100ft by 100ft.

Who’s been saying what online this month? We name, fame and shame celebs mouthing off in cyberspace. You are what
