Writing Stories with Sandi Shelton
Been dreaming about writing a book? Have the feeling it is finally time to turn all of those ideas into action? Join author Sandi Kahn Shelton (who also writes as Maddie Dawson) for her writer’s workshop, “Sharpen Your Pencils…Fill in Your Stories.” This event will be held on Wednesday, June 1, from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at the Main Library in New Haven. Participants are asked to bring writing materials. A $5 workshop fee includes a drawing entry in a raffle for a copy of Shelton’s newest book, “The Stuff That Never Happened.”
According to her website, Sandi has been writing fiction since she was six years old and figured out that she could sell stories to the neighbors in order to get money for ice cream. Among her
pen-to-paper (or finger-to-keyboard) endeavors since that time are writing news and then a weekly column for the New Haven Register, as well as authoring several books, including “You Might As Well Laugh: Surviving the Joys of Parenthood,” “Sleeping through the Night…and Other Lies,” “Preschool Confidential,” “What Comes After Crazy,” “A Piece of Normal,” and her current online blog. n The Main Library is located at 133 Elm Street in New Haven.
