roaders shoe-horned into these little areas it’s actually dangerous! Sand dunes seem to be a zoo as is the north side of 78. So, me and mine are outlaw off roaders and don’t care if we ever see a ranger again. All these Government rules and regulations can just shove it. I race mainly all MX and some off road, always on private land or Indian land. Your point about spending the fees off roaders pay for with their hard earned cash on more Enviro-mental BS is valid. It should be spent on the off road agenda!!! Like the program for kids, an MX track, and off road track. Now all the Enviro Nazi’s will take their big V-8’s and SUV’s out to look at the wild flowers with their Obama stickers on the back window . The point about nature’s own mind- blowing destruction is valid as well. Same goes for climate change. Man’s carbon foot print will never make any difference in the scale of earth’s own climate changes. New York was under 4,000 feet of ice, four times the height of the Empire State Building, just a measly 18,000 years ago. Go there today and see Central Park. Gee, how did that huge climate change happen without men and machines? Earth does her own thing, with or without us here on the planet, always has, always will. The geological record proves that fact.
THE REAL PROBLEM IS...
Sherri, Your column last month (Sherri’s
Turn, April 2011 issue) reveals the insanity of our current Nazi Enviro movement. It’s why I refuse to license some of my bikes. Starve the Beast, don’t feed it with your hard earned $. It’s why you will never see me or mine on the north side of the 78. It’s the reason we stopped going anywhere near the dunes since about 1985.
Best point of your article is all the undeveloped land. I rarely fly in an airplane but when I have, let’s say San Diego to Denver, I could see all the undeveloped desert that stretches forever. When you drive it, it just goes on forever. Makes you realize that while everyone wants clean air and water, nice forests, etc, there is just a ton of unused land sitting out there, not a soul or house in sight for as far as one can see. I’ve almost reached the point of apathy for our state. I went out to southeast Colorado last year and year before and we rode old CZ’s and Honda’s all over the place and back, no green stickers, no Nazi Rangers, just folks waving at us with gun racks in the rear window of their trucks! We even rode our dirt bikes on the highway sometimes to get to other dirt roads and trails. In California we have so many off

The real problem is America has elected people who don’t know a thing about what they are supposed to be running and they’re making policies and laws. We have complete idiots in Congress and the Whitehouse, in both parties (but the Dems/Libs take the cake). We have people that are making law and policy on Enviromental issues that don’t know about the real causes of Ice Ages, the real causes of Climate Change. I know Enviromental Engineers, that don’t even know the facts about Green House Gases (GHG’s) , natural or manmade. They just promote the current politcal agenda. And, to be fair, the off road/mx/jeep/ buggy crowds often disappoint me. Many and most are good responsible folks but I also have seen the idiots who leave trash and throw trash out the windows. I’ve see the ones who ride/ drive around the desert like they are the only ones there with no regard for the safety of others or themselves. I encourage all my friends to buy S&S Off Road Magazine. It helps keep them in touch with what’s going on in the local desert. DR. GARY DE FOREST San Diego
