art of the excitement and thrill of a race for spectators as well as participants is waiting to find out who will win. Imagine then what it would be like for days or weeks or even months before a big event if someone were to predict the winner. Oh, they might make a good guess based on past history at the event, but there would be no way to know for 100% sure who was going to win before the race actually took place. And the same holds true for something more serious than a competitive event.
If the dates May 21, 2011 or December 21, 2012 stand out in your mind, then you’ve probably heard the predictions. Judgment Day or possibly the end of the world according to the Mayan calendar.
Neither of these are accurate.
We can know that with certainty because over 2,000 years ago Jesus told us “Heaven and earth will pass away . . . but of that day and hour no one knows, not even the angels of heaven, nor the Son, but the Father alone.” (Matthew 24:35-36) We don’t have to live in fear or uncertainty. We can put our trust in the words of Jesus.
We can also make sure we are prepared. On that same day He also told the crowd “You also must be ready; for the Son of Man is coming at an hour when you do not think He will.” Scary? No, more like exciting. Especially if you’re ready for it. Just turn your life over to Jesus and get ready for the ride of
your life!
