onda-mounted Jess Jackson came out on top of a points tie to claim the Moto X Beginner class win at the A.V. Motoplex Ride Park, during the opening round of the M2x Racing’s Spring Kickoff Series.
When the gate dropped in opening moto action it was Curtis Richards, Jackson and Joe Pina at the front of the field. Richards emerged with the early lead as things got sorted out, ahead of Jackson, Kasey Parker and Steven Parker. Richard’s reign would last up until about the midway point when Kasey Parker took over for good. Richards kept Kasey Parker honest up until the checkers fell for a second place finish, followed by Jackson, Jesse Linch and Pina. Jackson was off to another great start as moto two left the gate. Richards settled into second place behind Jackson, with Kasey Parker holding down a close third. Jason put in one flawless lap after another enroute to his wire to wire romp of the field. Richards managed to keep Kasey Parker at bay for the entire race for the hard-fought second place finish. When the scorekeepers crunched the numbers it was the 3-1 of Jackson prevailing over the 1-3 of Kasey Parker and 2-2 of Richards. Linch used a 4-5 tally to edge out the 6-4 of Steven Parker for fourth overall.
Mitch Tieslau won the drag race to the first turn in Lites Novice class first moto action, but it was Andrew Richardson running out front at the completion of lap one. Tieslau hounded Richardson for a lap before a bobble dropped him back to an eventual 11th
place
finish. Zach Teno inherited the runner-up position and had his hands full with Bud Niblack, Justin Sherwood and Nathan Salib. These four riders argued over second place behind Richardson right up until the checkers fell with Salib prevailing in the end. Sherwood crossed the
line a close third, just ahead of Teno and Niblack. Richardson shot out to an immediate second moto lead and would continue uncontested for the wire to wire win and the first place trophy. Niblack held down second place up until the final circuit when Teno was finally able to make a pass stick. Teno’s second place showing in moto two earned him the second place trophy over the 3-4 of Sherwood and 2-6 of Salib. The 20-rider strong 85cc Open class had nothing for Josh Briggs, as the KX85-mounted rider ran away from his competition in both motos. William Bojorquez led Briggs early in moto one until Briggs out-jumped him and proceeded to motor away. Derek McConnell slipped past Bojorquez and held down the second spot up until the white flag lap when Bojorquez returned the favor just before the checkers. Conner Holyak put in a great effort to come from out of the pack to claim fourth, ahead of Brett Henry and Cody McCoy. It was all Briggs from start to finish in moto two with Bojorquez finishing a lonely second. Noah Baker (7-3) spent the moto working up into a well-deserved third place finish to come out on top of a points tie with McCoy (6-4) and Henry (5-5) to earn the third place trophy. Ryan Alexy flew his Honda to a perfect 1-1 showing in the Big Bike Open class. Alexy absconded with a pair of hotshots and just plain checked out from the rest of the field. Spencer Burns and Dillon Alexander fought over second place for the entire first moto with Burns keeping Alexander at bay right up until the checkers waved. Richardson turned a good start into a fourth place showing over James Hupp and Sherwood. Burns came back to finish a strong second in moto two, this time putting some breathing room between himself and Alexander. Richardson was again fourth over Hupp.
Lux Turner and his KTM were unstoppable in the 50cc 0-6 age class where he easily got to the checkers first in both motos. Aidan Ferguson was runner-up both times out over Joey Tweedy. Seth Lutgen (4-4) rounded out the top four finishers, ahead of Lachlan Turner (5-6) and John Rocco (9-5).
