n an overcast day the moist loamy surface of Starwest welcomed MX Racer/Moto X Kidz promoter Kevin Reno and his show to the well prepped facility. Reno currently runs the majority of his races at Starwest with the eleven round Spring series culminating in a two day final on Memorial week. Reno races the MX Racer competitors on the main track with all size machines, the Moto X Kidz race on the smaller course at Starwest where they can gain confidence and experience for the larger track. This two handed approach gives all racers a chance to race in a safe and fun environment with something for everyone. Reno and staff are always available for ad- vice and guidance on racing and its particu- lars, further solidifying the good natured en- couragement and enthusiasm that prevails at these races.
O Markie Mark was the solo entry in the MX Racer #18 Wyatt Wilkerson and #77 Ray LaFontaine Starwest MX Spring Series
65 (9-11) but this was an inter-class race with five different classes. Pee Wee Open (Thru 8) racer Michael Lischin presented re- sistance to Mark all day long. Lischin rode by Mark on lap three for the lead and even- tual moto one win, Mark races in at second in moto. Mark was having no part of Lischin in moto two if he could help it, but Lischin had no mercy with the holeshot. Mark retali- ated immediately speeding around Lischin and creeping away for the rest of the moto and the moto two win, Lischin second in moto. They each take their respective classes with Mark topping the ego contest with the overall race win. Lischin won the 50cc Pee Wee Novice (7-8) taking on all comers in another inter-class battle from which he emerged victo- rious in both motos.
Jack Bergstrom contested in the 250cc Novice, putting the screws to upper classman, 250 Intermediate Chris Bec, in moto one of another inter-class melee. Bergstrom had the heat out of the start for the lead through lap one, but Bec positioned in second made a jumping inside pass, two turns before the scorer’s table for the lead. Bec pulled away for the win with Bergstrom stick- ing second for the moto.
#630 Michael Lischin and #64 Markie Mark
With Bergstrom sitting out moto two, Bec pegged the lead early and proceeded to gap out for the moto two win and 250cc Intermediate win. Fred Broadbent took advantage of Bergstrom's absence assuming second in moto overall, and first in 250 Novice keeping the bike clean throughout the rest of the moto and holding those positions to the checkers. Broadbent combines his 250 Novice second in moto one and first in class in moto two for the overall. Bec (2-1) also added a 250cc Open win to his accolades of the day, Bergstrom (1-2) finished
second overall.
