ALL EYES ON TALLINN The largest networking event for the region’s air transport industry, Routes

Europe, will be held in Tallinn, Estonia in 2012. Delegate numbers are anticipated to exceed 750. This event will build on the success of what promises to be a hugely productive Routes Europe 2011 in Cagliari, Italy. Tallinn is Estonia’s capital and its largest city. The city mixes old and new, with its Old Town being a UNESCO World Heritage Site, while the country is also ranked among the top 10 digital cities in the world. Tallinn shares the title of European Capital of Culture in 2011 with Turku in Finland. Since gaining independence, Tallinn has become increasingly accessible to tourists, thanks to Estonia joining the European Union and improved air and sea transport links with Western Europe. The country has made rapid economic progress and its tourism industry is booming, particularly for weekend breaks. The main attractions are the two old towns, Lower Town and Toompea, both of which are easily explored on foot.
