Five-star Fiji The five-star Yasawa Island Resort Fiji is planning to step up publicity to
benefit from stopover traffic heading to New Zealand for the Rugby World Cup at the end of September/early October. The Fiji Visitors Bureau’s UK/Ireland
representative, Jane West, says that the islands welcomed 620,000 international visitors in 2010. “Several UK operators are seeing big
increases but some 50% of the market is still backpackers, although we are seeing a big increase in upmarket family holidays. We’re also seeing growth in adventure holidays, diving and weddings & honeymoons. However, many agents still struggle with information about getting to Fiji and we plan to produce a flight planner to help with this.”
