news to use CARIBBEAN Saint Lucia on first-class journey

BY ALAN ORBELL British Airways’ decision to

introduce first-class seating on four of its ex-Gatwick daily services to Saint Lucia has been warmly welcomed by Karolin Güler Troubetzkoy, executive director, marketing and operations for Jade Mountain, the island’s first de-luxe property, which opened in 2007. “BA's decision to introduce first-class is

very important for Jade Mountain and our sister property, Anse Chastenet, as it will help us to engage more with luxury travellers out of the UK," said Troubetzkoy. "We want to get across the message

that Saint Lucia has luxury properties and hope to build on the more professional clientele we get from the UK. “This year there are some 4000-plus

more airline seats out of the UK – while numbers have decreased from the US – and we also want to develop more niche markets out of the UK, particularly diving, the honeymoon market and birdwatching, (Saint Lucia has close to 1000 species).

BA also increased its number of flights

to the island to five a week last month. Situated in the Soufriere area close to

the Piton Mountains, Jade Mountain offers 24 individual ‘sanctuaries’, each with their own pool. Nightly rates start from £787pp (with a five-night minimum stay) and guests travelling first-class with BA get free helicopter transfers. Between
