COMPANY NEWS
Garrandale gathering momentum
Derby’s Garrandale has established itself as the single biggest provider of engineering services to rail infrastructure companies, saysMalcolm Prentice, the company’s CEO…
This time last year there was little evidence in the market place of Garrandale providing services to the rail industry beyond their long time involvement in the new build and modernisation of carriages.
However, 12 months on and the company has a presence on the majority of rail depots south of Watford, and a growing number in the North.
CEO Malcolm Prentice said: “The customer is king in our busi- ness. This industry is dynamic, demanding and deserving. Our customers and we too, have to respond to events quickly whilst under the critical eye of the fare- paying public and shareholders. I see customers everyday dedicat- ed to making improvements to UK rail and they deserve all the help we can give them.
“Whatever their requirements,
Garrandale has an excellent pedi- gree in the engineering industry and a workforce at the top of their game. They continually demon- strate high capability in design and project management of me- chanical and electrical projects, special purpose equipment, tool- ing designed to specific customer needs, fabrication, welding, ma- chining, painting, special coatings and finishing.
Garrandale’s innovative approach to the menace of graffiti has pro- duced a unique offering of anti- graffiti coatings. These state of the art products have amazing results when applied and are compliant with London Underground’s fire and safety performance criteria.
Garrandale perform to guaran- teed quality levels, within budget and timescale. We are a one- stop-shop to the industry and help to make our customers’ lives easier.”
The company’s first carriage wash machine for National Express in conjunction with Birse Rail has been successfully installed and commissioned at Orient Way,
close to the London Olympic complex. In Australia, a mainte- nance and remedial services con- tract has commenced on wash plant equipment in Sydney.
Work is also in progress with First Group, Southeastern, South West Trains, Southern, Porterbrook, Go Ahead, Northern Rail and Rail Parts.
Garrandale’s rolling stock up- grades and refurbishment is done in conjunction with ESG Rail.
Prentice said: “If you haven’t spoken with Garrandale yet, maybe now is the time.”
