The problem of incompatible safety eyewear and disposable masks has made respirator fit testing a challenge for almost a decade, says FilterSpec…

T

he dual eye and respira- tory protection system,

FilterSpec, has won the Frost & Sullivan 2011 North America New Product Innovation Award.

Judges called it “a remarkable product which is unique in its market”.

FilterSpec combines a mask and disposable filter with safety spec- tacles or goggles in a way that allows both protective devices to work independently, but in har- mony.

Brian Balmer, industry princi- pal of public protection equip- ment at Frost & Sullivan, said: “Differentiating oneself from the competition in a highly mature and competitive market is a chal- lenging task. JSP Ltd has made a distinct mark in the industry by

excelling in its research and de- velopment capabilities to develop efficient products.”

FilterSpec offers one unit over- coming problems with ill-fitting masks, fogged lenses and non- conformity that can often occur when one item of personal pro- tection equipment (PPE) com- promises another.

FilterSpec and a goggle version, FilterSpec Pro™, allow both eye and respiratory protection to work as an integrated unit, so a perfect fit is achieved for both items.
