AIRPORT RECRUITS
HOLOGRAPHIC STAFF London Luton Airport has become the fi rst airport in the world to introduce holographic announcers As part of a series of initiatives aimed at simplifying the security process and improving the experience for passengers, London Luton Airport has added two new virtual staff members. Custom designed for London Luton Airport by queue management and digital signage solutions provider Tensator, the holograms “Holly” and “Graham” – technically referred to as Tensator Virtual Assistants – will be deployed for a trial period within the Central Search Area to communicate important security messages as passengers pass from check-in to the departure lounge. Should the trial prove successful, passengers can look
forward to seeing Holly and Graham throughout the airport, in operational roles, offering passenger information and for use by retail outlets within the terminal building.

CHECKPOINT INTRODUCES
EP CLEAR TAGGING Enhanced Performance (EP) CLEAR labels protect small cosmetics and other high-value items from theft without covering packaging, allowing for scanning of barcodes through label
Checkpoint Systems, a supplier of shrink management and labelling solutions for the retail industry and its supply chain, has announced its newest radio frequency (RF) label series in its EP electronic article surveillance (EAS) labels range: a fi rst- of-its-kind, clear label for placement over a product barcode that does not hamper its ability to be scanned. The supplier also said it the smallest sized EAS label available
for protecting high-value merchandise and has been proven in retailers’ pilot studies to reduce theft by more than 15%. EP CLEAR labels are also produced using less aluminium, paper and plastic than standard labels, and so can help retailers and CPG manufacturers reduce waste material by up to 65%.
