Royal Wedding strike as Rail Technology Magazine went to press.
It is part of Aslef’s ongoing dispute with London
Underground over bank holiday pay, which saw drivers striking on Boxing Day.
Despite hints from some officials that the union could target the wedding day of Prince William and Kate Middleton, April 29, a bank holiday, the union’s general secretary said such threats were “premature”.
Keith Norman said the question had not been discussed by the union’s executive, and the union’s London officer Steve Grant stressed than no ballot had been held.

Charitable IT staff at London Midland have totted up the cash raised during their month of no shaving.
The rail company staff raised just under £2,000 as part of Movember, where men grow moustaches for the month in aid of The Prostate Cancer charity.
London Underground said tube drivers have “very fair” levels of pay and seven weeks’ holiday covered by long-standing agreements, and said Londoners would be “stunned” at what Aslef was demanding.

he website for European rail passes has won a global award for social media customer service.
Eurail.com won the Mashable Award at a ceremony in Las Vegas.
The company, which started selling online seven years ago and got involved in social media just three years ago, says it has more than 50,000 travel fans on Facebook and Twitter.
