The Travel Agents Choice Awards have become a prestigious badge of honour


As the eyes of the travel world turned to London at World Travel Market last November, our 2010 TACA winners and champions from around the globe gathered to receive their awards – as voted by those who really know: travel agents. Julie Baxter takes readers through the very best in the industry


RIU HOTELS


 Riu Hotels scored a double wammy - collecting awards as the hotel group agents most recommend and also a Champion award for its overall product and service. The group was founded by the Riu family in 1953 as a small holiday fi rm and is still owned by the family’s third generation. It specialises in sun and sand holiday resorts and half of its properties offer all-inclusive deals.


SUPERBREAK


 Shopping or theatre breaks, concerts, events or a late get-away, Superbreak has it covered and this year won two agent awards. The operator secured the top award for short haul city break packages but also showed its wilder side by gaining recognition for its soft adventure range. New for 2011 will be Royal

BRITISH AIRWAYS


 Despite a challenging year, there was a hat-trick of honours for British Airways in our 2010 awards. The airline picked up the gong for the airline agents recommend most for both domestic travel and fl ights to North Africa and it also won a Champion award for airline offering best overall short haul product and service. www.ba.com
