Top Vaastu Tips for the Home

Plants have great signifi cance in Vaastu, they play signifi cant role in activating positive energy in

our day-to-day life. Plants close to the main door and pathway are good as they purify the main door area; however, tall trees should not exist close to the main door or obstruct the view from the main door. Medicinal Plants like basil and fl owering plants close to the main door are considered very auspicious as they have healing powers and the fragrance adds positivity to the environment.

T e main door is one of the most important and powerful areas in a home as it connects to the outer world, protects the home and is an identity for the occupants. T e placement of the

main door frame and the door has to be carried out at an auspicious hour and date to activate prosperity to the occupants. T e location and orientation of the main door is quite critical as it decides the type of energy rolling into the home, hence it should be in a place which has a pleasant view, free of clutter and not face a negative view. Vaastu suggests dividing the width of the building into 9 equal parts and placing the main door between the fourth and sixth section to the left ( measured standing facing the house).

Possessing land but not enough money to start construction is a common situation for many, but do not lose

heart. Vaastu suggests planting a Pomegranate sapling during the waxing moon phase to bring in the fi nances and ensure that construction begins. T e Pomegranate plant is said to be the abode of the Goddess of Wealth “Lakshmi” according to Hindu mythology, hence Vaastu endorses that this mystic process empowers the fi nances.

Enhancing the décor and energy of the centre portion of a home is considered auspicious. T e

centre represents the major organs of the lung, heart and stomach. Physically, this part of the building offers the heart nexus or feeling center, the lung or “prana” center, the stomach or “digestive” center, and the “nabhi” or creative center. The centre sector should not be elevated in the fl oor plan; however, a depression or centre court yard with small pebbles or earth décor is quite auspicious. Keeping it clean, light and free of heavy furniture is essential, but water features, pools, or toilets in this sector are taboo.
