Ulster Bank has appointed Patrick Farrell to the position of head of private banking. Farrell has over 13 years’ experience in the financial services industry. He joined Ulster Bank Retail in April 2006 as head of product management.During his time at UlsterBank, he has held a num- ber of senior roles, including head of retail strategy andmar- keting and most recently head of commercial marketing. Prior to joining Ulster Bank, he worked for Bank of Ireland. He has also spent time working in his family’s agricultural busi- ness. Farrell has an MBA from UCD Michael Smurfit Graduate Business School and holds a BAgrSc degree (agribusiness and rural development) from UCD.

Michael Gallagher has been appointed head of LM Ericsson, Ireland, in addition to his existing responsibilities within the com- pany’s research and develop- ment facility in Ireland. He has previously worked for Ericsson in Canada and Sweden and has been employedwith Ericsson for 30 years,mainly in research and development.
Before joining Publicis QMP, he held a number of senior posi- tions in Irish advertising includ- ing directorships of McConnells Advertising and IAPI.
12. Alan Foy, chief executive, Blueface
Alan Foy has been appointed chief executive of telecoms company Blueface. In this role, he will be responsible for gen- eral management and strategic planning, as well as corporate development and investor rela- tions. Prior to his appointment at Blueface, Foy was executive with NCB Group on the wealth management side of the busi- ness. He also previously worked with Coyle Hamilton (nowWillis) in the area of business transfor- mation. He holds a master’s degree in business studies from Trinity College Dublin (TCD) and is currently vice-president of Trinity Business Alumni. He is also a district officer of Rotary International in Ireland.

Publicis QMP has appointed Padraig Burns as managing director. Burns has been deputy managing director of the agency for the past four years. He began his advertising career in New York in the early Nineties.
OlofLindberghas beenappointed vice-president, global sales at Tralee-based Altobridge, which supplies remote communica- tions solutions. Lindberg, who joins from UDcast SA, France, will be responsible for driving worldwide sales and partner- ships for the growing remote communications market. He
was previously vice-president global sales at Cambridge Broadband Networks, UK, where he was responsible for sales of cellular backhaul/ transmission solutions to mobile operators. He also added considerable first-hand knowledge of African and Middle Eastern markets dur- ing this time to his already extensive experience in these regions gained in his previous role with IPWireless, UK as sales director EMEA. Before that, he contributed to Cisco’s expansion, first as territory manager, Sweden and then as country manager, Saudi Arabia.

Prior to joining Deloitte, he was managing director at AdviserPlus, a technology company providing software as a service to Irish financial advisers, for three years.
