Stores which sell Nembutal (always called Halatal) in Calle Tres Cruces de Oro include:
• Casagroveto, El Progreso at No. 461 • Agroveterinaria Belen (Principal) at No. 496 • Progensa EIRL at No. 485 • Sucursal (Branch) at No: 421
In 2011, Jeff from Canada reported:
I just returned from a one week stay in Cuzco, Peru where I was successful in obtaining Halatal. The street Calles Tres Cruces has a long line of veterinary shops ... I went to Agroveterinaria ... There I got two fifty mL bottles for US $20.

After buying three bottles of Halatal at various stores in Calle Tres Cruces de Oro (and a marvellous visit on the Orient Express’ Hiram Bingham to Machu Picchu), I was shocked to be stopped by police at Cusco airport on my way back to Lima.
As it turned out it was a random spot check. I was subject to a cursory going-through of my bags during which time they of course found my bottles of Nembutal. I was never asked what they were for, only if I had been sick from the altitude. When I nodded the bottles were carefully re-wrapped by the policeman in my sweater and that was that. I must say I was initially quite shocked to be singled out. Me - a drug runner - never. At least not the type of drugs they were look- ing for.
