Fig 14.32: One of the many Agro Veterinarias in Calle Tres Cruces de Oro in Cuzco, Peru
In Cuzco, an unremarkable street called ‘Calle Tres Cruces de Oro’ (the three golden crosses) is home to well over 10 vet- erinaras. Almost all of these Agro Veterinarias stock Halatal. Most stores have the boxes on open display either on the shelf behind or in front of the counter, or in a glass cabinet under the counter. The cost of a single small 50ml bottle of Halatal ranges between 22 and 25 soles (US$8-$9).
To purchase Halatal from any of the stores in these streets, one needs only to know the drug name, although a photo of a bottle can be useful. Spanish is not required as there will be no questions asked about what the drug is used for; the store attendants usually just want to make a sale.
