FOX ADOPTION

Here at Secret World we have a number of orphaned fox cubs come through our doors each year. We also rescue a number of adults who have found themselves trapped or are in an appalling condition from mange.

These beautiful creatures are unpopular with many groups for instance due to the damage that they occasionally cause to poorly secured poultry. Many have had to adapt to living in towns as development stretches further out. This leads to many road accidents injuring foxes both during the day and night.

BADGER ADOPTION

Secret World is famous for its work with Badgers. Each year a number of cubs are hand reared in Pauline’s Kitchen before being released as groups. We rescue close to 200 badgers each year, from tiny orphaned cubs to full grown adults which have been involved in traffic accidents or even badger baiting.

We continue to fight on their behalf as the government still seems adamant on killing them because of the problem with Bovine TB in cattle. This is despite robust and sound science that proves that culling badgers does not work.

OTTER ADOPTION

The otter has been endangered for many years but as the level of pollution goes down in rivers they are starting to make a comeback. This means that we are getting an increasing number of orphaned cubs come to us.

Each animal stays with us until the time that it would normally leave its mother, in that time they progress from bottle feeds to eating fish and even learn to swim in Pauline’s bath.

Each otter will eat large quantities of fish during its 18 months with us and needs clean water to swim in, another expense when we are on a water meter. Your support is desperately needed to help us care for these animals.
