I just keep the design going in the same uniform style and avoid any distractions along the way.
I go with a small circle design toward the tips to keep the effect of depth there, as the tips are smaller than the front of the design. I would loose the design if I keep it the same size at the tips.
Finally I have the design to the stage where I can put away the Root Beer / Black mix. Using Pegan Gold now and my Eclipse I give the whole design a very light coat. The Pagan Gold gives the design a very nice bone color when used very lightly.
I remove all the transfer tape to have a look at nearly com- pleted design. After giving it two coats of clear and allowing it time to cure properly I scuff the clear with 500 grit wet / dry sand paper. Add some shadows along the bottom of the flames to give the design some depth. Than I apply Glad Press and Seal to the flame to mask that area. I carefully cut out alone the top of the flames and with my Micron light- ly spray a mix of White and Blue as a high light. Highlights are also applied in a few other areas. I always clear coat than add high lights, If the high lights where added just on top of the design the first coat of clear would make them disappear. With the highlights done its time for one final coat of clear.
