Now with my design transferred onto the tank I use a X Acto knife and carefully cut the design out. I don’t want to apply much pressure here as I use the X acto knife, I do not want to cut the surface of the tank. Notice that one small area in the jaw is left on the tank.
I use an Iwata RG2 to spray a light coat of base white than go over that with a Pear White. I’m careful here to keep the coats of color very light to avoid a big edge build up along the stencil edges.
Now comes the fun. I turn off the phones, computers and anything that might serve as an distraction. I want to be able to fully concentrate on what I’m about to do. When rendering a skull I always start on the eyes, nose and than teeth in that order. It just seems to help me pull the whole design together better in this order. At 8 to 10 PSI I use a mixture of Root Beer and Black in my Iwata Micron.
I work the skull area and pull the design back into the flame area.
