3) I started with the mechanical arms using Com-Art Trans- parent Viridian, Royal Blue and Black. They will ultimately be much darker than the skulls and woman, so by spraying them first I won’t be as worried about dark over spray or bleeding onto those areas later on. I’m not too concerned about fine details at this point but rather just want to fill the areas with the proper tones.


4) Now for the skulls. I peel the eyes and teeth first and spray them with a mixture of Opaque Raw Sienna and Raw Umber. This acts as a good guide for shadow placement when the surrounding areas are peeled as well as giving a good hard- lined separation. After removing the remaining frisket on the skulls, the same color I used for the eyes and teeth is used to fill in these areas.


5) I usually like my skulls to have a chalky, cold look to them but for this design I used Transparent Sienna to warm them up a little. Transparent Black is then used very sparingly to add a little depth to the shadows and contours.
