And it’s yet another year at the top of our commercials producers’ favourite editors poll for The Quarry’s Paul Watts and a big upset at the top of our vfx artists poll as The Mill’s Barnsley, who’s occupied the top spot since the vfx artists poll began in 2002, has fallen to fourth place. Paul Watts had another great professional year continuing his work with Gorgeous’s directors – cutting Chris Palmer’s Budweiser Lyrics spot and his Visa Football Evolution ad as well as Vince Squibb’s Show Your Love spot for BBC Local Radio. Work’s Richard Orrick again takes second place in the editors’ poll on the back of cutting top ads like the Weetabix Grand National spot and Nike’s Write the Future as well as Adidas’s Fast vs Fast. Names new to the editors’ poll include ex Cut and Run, now Stitch’s, Andy McGraw and Work’s Neil Smith. The survey’s top vfx artists poll sees colourist Jean Clement Soret take over the number one spot after coming in second last year. He added his touch to some of the best ads of the year including Cadbury’s Spots v Stripes, John Lewis’s Always a Woman and Stella Artois Triple Piano. Joint second place is also occupied by two colourists in Prime Focus’s Tareq Kubaisi and the Mill’s Adam Scott.
