The high point of 2010 for Studio AKA was winning two BAFTAs – a Children’s BAFTA for its animated short Lost and Found, directed by Philip Hunt, and a BAFTA craft award for its BBC Winter Olympics titles, directed by Marc Craste for Red Bee Media. Another stand-out spot for Studio AKA was the Steve Small- directed Green Flag Insurance campaign for CHI & Partners. The animation specialist has 16 directors on its roster and produced 42 ads over the last 12 months. The state of the commercials production industry, says Studio AKA, is “always tough – there’s a lot of competition, tough schedules and tight budgets. But the toughest bar is the one we set ourselves, producing beautifully crafted animated commercials no matter what the constraints”.
