I like to present several options or variations on a theme at a trial. I also recommend taking lots of photos at this stage. Then you can take time to decide which style suits you best. No decision is set in stone. It’s a bride’s prerogative to change her mind. We only need to know definitively that day. If you are planning on doing portraits after the appointment, be sure to tell your stylist up front. They may want to schedule a little extra time.
As the day draws near there are a few last details that need attending. You should always have your color done two weeks beforehand. Also consider getting a glaze to make your hair healthier and shiny. Get a light trim a week or so before the wedding to get rid of split ends. Do not sacrifice healthy hair for extra long hair. Any length below the jaw line can be put up. If you decide to wear your hair down, there is no hiding tortured split ends.
On the big day everything should be smooth and calm. This is usually easy since everyone’s slightly numb from the previous night’s activities. Here are a couple of hints to help that along. Number one, eat something. You already fit in the dress so it’s time to give up the diet and eat that bagel. An empty stomach and champagne do not a pretty bride make.
Come in with clean dry hair. Some people will say to come in with one-day “dirty” hair, but I like to think of a bride as pretty and clean, not one day dirty. Next, if you can swing it don’t schedule your MOH’s appointment at the same time as yours. Plan on having her hang out with you. She probably knows you better than anyone else and having her near will keep the mood light and fun. Plus if any last minute issues come up she is available to take the reins.

Your job is done so just sit back, look pretty, and take it all in. Bring all of your accessories with you. This includes flowers, jewelry, and the veil. At that time, we will appoint her the keeper of the veil. Her duties will be placing and removing the veil. We will practice it together so that everyone is in a good place emotionally.
Lastly, enjoy the whole experience. No one will know if something doesn’t go as planned -- only you, and you won’t tell. And remember that nothing starts without the bride.
