The
Crowning Touch

I like to think of hair as the final piece to the wedding puzzle. It should fit effortlessly and complete the picture. As in puzzles, if it doesn’t fit, don’t force it. Your hair should simply make you feel beautiful. There are some essentials you should know to ensure this outcome.
First and foremost is choosing a stylist. This relationship is second only to that of your
betrothed. The most successful collaborations happen when the two of you really connect. Let’s just say that if this were The Bachelor, I would expect a rose. If you already know your stylist then you are on solid ground. If you are booking appointments out of town make time for consultations with several stylists. This is just to feel each other out, like a trial period on Match. com. Go with your instincts when making your final choice. If it doesn’t feel right, it probably isn’t. Think of it as a first date but you probably won’t get to first base, yet.
The next step is the trial appointment. The trial should happen three to four months before the wedding. Now I know some of you think that a year in advance is the way to go, but trust me when I say that so much changes in that year, you

usually start from scratch anyway. By the time you come in everything should be in place. Now we can really get started. Hair trends can change year to year but one thing that never changes is soft beautiful timeless hair. You know your hair better than anyone, so come prepared. Have a variety of pictures, ideas, a time period, or feelings you would like to evoke. The more you have to work with the easier the process. As important as your likes, are your dislikes. Don’t be shy about voicing your opinions. You’re not going to hurt my feelings. I want you to be happy, not washing your hair out in the hotel sink one hour before the service. I also love it when a bride brings in a reference picture that she abhors. It just puts us on the right path straight away. And I like a little cattiness. It eases tension. Trials should be explorative and playful. Just like your wedding night.
