Dance band, soul band, swing band… lots of choices...at lots of different price points! If you have been to an event and loved the band…start there! Nothing is better than experiencing a band in person. Track down their name and find out how much they cost. If they are not in your budget call your local entertainment-booking agent to find out who plays in a similar genre. Finding your band can be a challenge so be patient with the process…but when you find something you like - don’t hesitate. When an agent sends you a list of bands remember these bands are not on hold for you. It is possible that someone else could be getting a similar list at the same time. If a band is not your thing or not in your budget, DJs are a wonderful alternative! DJs likewise range in price point and style – from traditional tracks to nightclub sound. DJs have access to the widest variety of music from the past to right now, so if you prefer contemporary music, going with a DJ may be your best bet. If you are pursuing a local DJ try to find a time to hear his or her particular style. If you are looking to bring one in from another city, make sure you source recommendations, check out their website, and try to connect with them over the phone. You want to make sure they are willing to work with the mood you are trying to set with your wedding music. Whether you use a band or a DJ, a crowded dance floor is a true sign of a successful wedding!
