barcodes. M-Series vision systems also excel at differentiating parts, locating defects and detecting flaws on four sides of a part. Typical applications include inspecting electronic connectors, correct part seating during die stamping, and detection of fill level and cap position on bottles.

Interlaced video cameras JAI has released a line of
monochrome
interlaced video cameras designed to provide high image quality, sophisticated auto exposure capabilities, and low-light sensitivity for applications utilising traditional CCIR standard video interfaces. The three camera models – the RM-670, RM-673NIR, and RM-675NIR – are aimed primarily at high-end surveillance, situational awareness, and homeland security applications,
but can be used for a variety of industrial applications, as well. The three different cameras give designers a choice of pixel sizes and optical formats ranging from the 2/3-inch ICX423AL sensor in the RM-670, to 1/2-inch ICX-429AL in the RM-675NIR, and 1/3-inch ICX259AL in the RM-673NIR. The latter two sensors provide added sensitivity to near-infrared light. With the same physical footprint for all three models, designers can easily find the right model to fit the optics in their current system designs, or gradually migrate from one platform to the other as needs evolve.
Operating at the standard 752 x 582 CCIR resolution (25 fps), the cameras provide improved image quality versus older interlaced models (signal-to-noise ratio >53dB) and reduced EMI emissions measured at 12dB, below the maximum limit for Class A products. A single 15-pin connector is used for power, camera
control, and video output, making installation clean and simple. All camera features can be controlled via RS232 commands over this single interface cable.
Other standard features
include electronic shuttering up to 1/100,000th of a second, horizontal mirror image capability, and an integrated three-axis control function, which can be used to operate motorised zoom lenses, change focus and iris settings, move pan and tilt heads, or any combination of three external control circuits.
The cameras can be optionally configured with JAI’s Auto Level Control (ALC) feature, providing sophisticated functionality for handling changing lighting conditions. All three camera housings are 32 (h) x 42 (w) x 48mm (d) and support C-mount lenses with adjustable back focus. Board-level versions are also available for large-quantity OEM orders.

Suited to photovoltaic QC Vision Components has launched the VC4467/NIR, a highly sensitive and compact image processing system. VC4467-type cameras feature an EXview HAD CCD sensor from Sony, which detects both visible light waves and long wave light near the infrared spectrum. The cameras provide precise image recording, even in low- light conditions.
The VC4467/NIR’s sensor has been modified in order to further increase sensitivity in the near infrared range; as a result, the camera supplies high-quality data at wavelengths up to 1,100nm. The
