1D and 2D codes regardless of size, quality, printing method or surface. The device also offers two new innovations for an industrial handheld code reader: modular communications (including Ethernet) and liquid lens variable focus technology.
The DataMan 8000 series features two powerful algorithms, 1DMax and 2DMax, that provide advanced decoding available for reading virtually every type of code, every time, with excellent read rates. The scanner also offers integrated liquid lens technology. The adjustable focus of the liquid lens gives high depth-of-field flexibility, which means small 2D direct part marks can be read, as well as long linear bar codes with a single reader.
The DataMan 8000 series also supports both RS232/ USB and industrial Ethernet communication. The system’s modular communication design allows users to upgrade easily from RS232/ USB to industrial Ethernet with field exchangeable interface modules. This flexibility enables users to modify their initial reader installation to meet future communication requirements. The scanner is available in two models: DataMan 8500, which incorporates UltraLight technology from Cognex for superior image formation on any mark type and surface. The UltraLight provides dark field, bright field and diffuse lighting all in one electronically controlled light. The second model is the DataMan 8100, which includes all of the features of the DataMan 8500 readers, with bright field illumination. The DataMan 8100 readers are ideal for applications that require superior code reading performance without specialty lighting.

3D laser line sensors LMI Technologies, a global leader in 3D sensor measurement, has launched the Gocator 2000 series of 3D laser line sensors targeted at factory automation.
The built-in web server provides an effective GUI for rapid setup and control. Users can connect, set
up exposure and speeds, visualise profiles, measure dimensions, select communication outputs, and monitor results using Firefox, Internet Explorer, Chrome, or Safari web browsers. This built-in web connectivity enables users to access the sensor from any PC without additional software, drivers, control boxes, amplifiers, or dependency on a specific operating system.
Users can program the system with C language scripting to perform custom calculations or define unique logic decisions. All of the Gocators in the 2000 series are network-aware, allowing one sensor to be paired with a second sensor in order to perform more sophisticated differential measurement tasks. A series of Gocators can be networked to scan large objects. Rich I/O and simplified cabling support a variety of common digital and analogue interface requirements.

GigE Vision camera series Point Grey has launched its
high-performance and cost-effective
Grasshopper2 GigE Vision digital camera series.
The first available Grasshopper2 GS2-GE models incorporate a Gigabit Ethernet digital interface and are based on mono and colour versions of the Sony ICX274, a two-megapixel CCD that runs at 30fps, and the ICX625, a five-megapixel CCD that runs at 15fps. The compact Grasshopper2 measures just 44 x 29 x 58mm, and offers new features such as opto-isolated GPIO for industrial triggering and strobe output, new multi-exposure trigger modes, and improved on-camera status monitoring.
Every Grasshopper2 GS2-GE camera is equipped with a 14-bit analogue-to-digital converter, 32MB frame buffer, 512KB non-volatile flash memory, and on-board temperature and power sensors to monitor camera status. Like all Point Grey cameras, every model provides automatic control of most camera properties,
