The Vision show in Stuttgart (9-11 November) is fast approaching and this issue is packed with information on the show. Last year’s show was a success, despite the recession, and this year’s show promises to be even better, with visitor and exhibitor numbers expected to be up on 2009. This year’s Vision Award entries, once again proudly sponsored by Imaging and Machine Vision Europe, can be found on page 10. The award recognises excellence in the area of applied imaging with the winner receiving €5,000. The prize will be presented by Warren Clark, publishing director at Europa Science, which publishes IMVE. In addition, the award entries will be displayed on our booth at the show (6A 77). A preview of some of the exhibitors at Vision

2010 starts on page 18, while on page 38 there is a preview of some of the companies exhibiting at MVIS, part of the Photonex event in the UK, 3-4 November. Elsewhere in the magazine, Stephen Mounsey tackles some of the advances in image processing in his article on page 26, including two innovations nominated for the Vision Award, while his article on page 30 looks at the imaging requirements for military vehicles. Meanwhile, the article on page 34 looks at some classic quality assurance applications using vision, something for which machine vision was made, as any visitor to Vision 2010 will ascertain.
